Our Klamath Basin Water Crisis
Upholding rural Americans' rights to grow food,
own property, and caretake our wildlife and natural resources.
California Farm Bureau Federation Friday Review, legislative and governmental update 1/20/12. KBC NOTE: Included is a bill, which failed, to LABEL genetically modified fish. Our state has reduced fishing, eliminated suction dredge mining, and plans to destroy 4 hydroelectric dams on the Klamath river and hatcheries which produce millions of fish, in the guise of superiority of "wild" fish. Obama then bails a genetically modified salmon firm. And by the way, Obama's food Czar was Monsanto's legal representative. So wiping out the Klamath hatcheries could conveniently be replaced by Obama's pet "Frankenfish."
Tainted Mexican Meat; county of origin labeling 10/25/11. "We’ve already imported nearly 90 million pounds of Mexican beef this year...USDA caved under the industry pressure and now allows USA meat products that are exclusively of U.S. origin to bear the label “Product of U.S. and Mexico,” or “Product of U.S., Mexico, and Canada,” Schultz said adding, “USDA kowtowed to foreign countries and to the multinational meatpackers who don’t want U.S. consumers to be able to differentiate U.S.-produced meat from foreign meat."
China says 300,000 babies sickened by tainted milk, Capital Press 12/2/08. (KBC NOTE: Every year Klamath Basin farmland is acquired by the Feds and Nature Conservancy to make swamps, nearly 100,000 acres already. Agencies in Klamath are doing their part to guarantee imported food from China." More on imported food.
CHINA - Melamine already in global food chain, Capital Press, posted to KBC 11/2/08
(Chinese) Tainted milk crisis hits more global companies, Capital Press 9/26/08. " The compromised dairy products are blamed for sickening 54,000 babies." (KBC Note: Millions of acres per year are being taken out of agriculture. In the Klamath Basin, more than 100,000 acres have been converted from ag into federally-owned swamps, and with the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement, thousands more acres will be eliminated from producing agriculture. We can always get more food from China.)
