Tulelake Growers Association Sponsors Meeting with USDA Farm Service Agency Officials

March 1, 2005

The Tulelake Growers Association is pleased to sponsor a meeting with Federal, State and County Farm Service Agency officials. The purpose of the meeting is to inform producers that they may be eligible for additional benefits from the re-initiation of the 2001 Crop Disaster Program. This program has been revised based upon successful appeals regarding eligibility.

John A. Johnson, Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs from Washington D.C. will be accompanied by John Smythe, California FSA State Executive Director and Larry Frye, Oregon FSA State Executive Director. They are coming to the Klamath Basin to hear the concerns of the agricultural community regarding this program.

The meeting has been scheduled for March 9, 2005 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. It will be held in the Blue Building at the Klamath County Fairgrounds. Farmers and ranchers who have an interest or have participated in FSA programs are greatly encouraged to attend this important, informative event. This is an exceptional opportunity to meet with officials that can assist us in achieving the goal of recovery from the 2001 water crisis. Our family farms and ranches must continue to be an integral part of providing a safe domestic food supply for our nation.

If you have any questions concerning this meeting please contact the TGA office at 530-667-5214, Marty Macy, President at (541) 891-0800 or Deb Crisp at (541) 218-6505.
