Bill Simon in Yreka August 21
July 31, 2004

97 days until the election and counting!  The Siskiyou County Republican Party has some news to give all of you in relation to this year's election.

First, the County Party Headquarters has been located and the lease has been signed.  It is located in a great location across the street from the Siskiyou Daily News and one block from the Post Office in Yreka.  It's 2700 square feet will allow us to host functions such as the Nomination Watching Party scheduled for Sept 2,  and the 4 Debate Watching Parties scheduled for Sept 30, Oct 5, Oct 8 and Oct 13.

It is located at 304 S. Broadway in Yreka, phone numbers to be determined later.  We will need as many of you as possible to volunteer!  If you are interested, please let me know, especially if you would really like to manage the HQ.

Second, the Victory 2004 Kickoff BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, August 21.  This is an official fundraiser for the County Party.  Our keynote speaker is Bill Simon, candidate for State Treasurer in 2006 and former candidate for Governor in 2002.  A couple of our friends have indicated to me that we should have someone that is running this year at the event.  Well, Assembly Doug LaMalfa and Congressman Wally Herger are both up for re-election and have been invited to speak as well.  However, it is rare that we have an opportunity to get someone like Bill Simon to Siskiyou County, so let us give him a warm Siskiyou welcome.

In fairness, it is important to recognize that a good turnout would ensure that high quality speakers will continue to visit our County.  So please consider being a host by purchasing a block of 10 tickets.  If you would like to be a host contact me by email at the above address or call me on my private line during the day 530-842-3317 or evenings at home 530-926-1935.

Tickets are $30 per person and the BBQ is catered by the Mt Shasta Knights of Columbus.  No host cocktails begin at 6pm in the Winema Hall, Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds in Yreka.  Dinner to follow at 7pm.  There will be a VIP Reception to be announced to those of you who are Century Club members.  If you are not yet a Century Club member and would like to join, call me as well.  Membership for the 2004 year is $100 for one person and a guest.  If you become a member before Aug 15th, you will also receive one free ticket to the Simon event.

Keep in mind that in October we have another featured speaker, Congressman Darrell Issa, godfather of the 2003 recall and a moving force within the Party.  He has represented our nation well on several missions to the Middle East and will be sharing some of his experiences with us.  A date will be determined soon.

Finally, keep the Halloween weekend open as that is our 72 hour GOTV effort for the Nov 2 election.  Many things are being planned including a Scary Kerry event for Halloween eve.

I have attached a flyer for the Simon Event.  For tickets you may contact any member of the Central Committee, Penny Parrish (Pres. SSRWF) or Charlotte Webster (Pres. SCRWF)

We look forward to seeing all of you on Aug 21.

Sincerely,

Sam Wakim
1st Vice Chairman, Siskiyou GOP
