4/15/09 by Dan Keppen, Family Farm Alliance executive director

The Latino Water Coalition’s “March for Water” kicked off yesterday. The 4-day march began in Mendota on Tuesday April 14th @ 7:00 AM…and will conclude on April 17th @ 11:30PM with a rally at the San Luis Reservoir near Los Banos. Over 5,000 people attended the opening rally, and over 1,000 are marching today along I-5, spread out over ½ mile. Friday’s rally at San Luis is expected to draw the largest crowd.

Also – the following media advisory was released by Governor Schwarzenegger’s office yesterday. The Governor and U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will be touring the Delta on the day of the rally.

I am meeting with a group of Family Farm Alliance directors, advisors and contractors in Los Banos Friday morning, and will participate in the rally later in the morning at San Luis.
