Federal Law Provides for Agriculture Power Contracts
Klamath Water Users Association March 2005. This was on a poster at the PUC, Public Utilities Commission, meeting in Klamath Falls.
*  Reclamation Act of 1902
          This act provided for the creation of the Bureau of Reclamation and its ability to develop storage and power generation. The Klamath Irrigation Project was authorized in 1905.
*  Federal Power Act
          This act provides for hydroelectric project license conditioning that requires a negotiated power contract between PacifiCorp and Bureau of Reclamation.
*  Klamath Compact 1957
          This interstate compact was passed by California and Oregon and ratified by Congress. The Compact provides for "lowest power rates which may be reasonable for irrigation and drainage pumping, including pumping from wells."
