Reps. Pombo, Walden hold fire hearing in Oregon Aug. 25th

Congressional Field Hearing and Rally in Redmond, Oregon
Monday, August 25, 2003

Every Healthy Forests Advocate must be there.

Call your friends.  Call your neighbors.  This is a big deal.

On Monday, August 25th we need your help!

Oregon’s Congressman Greg Walden is hosting a very important Congressional
field hearing on forest health, fire and other issues in Redmond, Oregon at
the fairgrounds.  The hearing will begin at 2 pm and take place in the South
Sisters Building.

House Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo of California will also be
in attendance.  This will be an excellent opportunity for you to make your
feelings known and heard on the Healthy Forests Restoration Act  (HR 1904)
currently before Congress.  The Senate is using the House Number HR 1904 for
the bill.

At 12:00, a pre-hearing rally will take place also on the fairgrounds…close
to the hearing room. There will be great speakers and refreshments.  We want
to send Congress (especially the US Senate) a clear message in this rally
and hearing:  pass the Healthy Forests Restoration Act now!

We need a strong crowd to send a powerful message. The news media will be
there so let’s make sure we have a loud, boisterous crowd.  We also expect
some protests from radical environmental groups so we need to make sure we
dwarf them in size, numbers and volume!

Make plans to be in Redmond, Oregon on Monday, August 25th at 12:00 PM.

*****HOW YOU CAN HELP*****

-----1.  Make plans now to attend the hearing.  Get there no later than
12:00 PM Monday.

-----2.  Call at least three friends to make sure they know about it.  Urge
them to come.

-----3.  Forward this e-mail to your entire list to let them know about the
hearing.

-----4.  Call your Senators to urge that they support the Healthy Forests
Restoration Act (HR 1904.  You can call every Senator at (202) 224-3121.
Or use the temporary FREE NUMBER  (800) 648-3516.
