Jean Saffell, "Jean's News"        Jean Offers:  Support and Action ( see below )

Jean says:

Yes, go ahead and list me among the supporters for the
farmers. The situation of the Klamath Basin illustrates the
growing dilemma of over-allocation of resources,
particularly water. Surely there must be better options than
the all-or-nothing approach by the Feds. Lately all resource
issues seem to be decided by litigation or the threat
thereof, not on the basis of good stewardship or resource
management principles.

It has become increasingly apparent that all resources-based
economic activities are under fire in the western states,
whether it's forestry, farming, grazing, etc. Society at
large isn't particularly impressed that 1400 family farmers
will lose their "jobs" when big businesses eliminate 5,000
jobs at a whack. The media has been unwilling to make the
connection between "no farmers = no food" when "saving"
wildlife is so much more appealing to city-dwellers/viewers.

The fact that farmers/ranchers are tied to the land and
produce our food has escaped media notice. It's a blind
spot. However, the "Bucket Brigade" event is a good concept.
I'll forward news of this important event through my e-lists
and encourage others to do the same.

JL Saffell

"Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and
if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these
things." Philippians 4:8

Also, I'd like permission to place an "alert' to your event
on the front page of my Natural Resources Jobs web site. It
gets the most traffic and might help alert more people to
the "Bucket Brigade" event. Probably about 3000 people would
see the notice before the BB day. Site address:
