Global Warming

agenda driving Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement / KBRA

The KBRA stipulates that that KBRA document, including water allocations to ag, will be altered to conform to the climate change studies. HERE for Preparing for Climate Change in the Klamath Basin. Many government agencies, tribal biologists, and environmental groups listed at the end of the document are surely looking out for our best interests.  Posted to KBC 10/21/10.

Cap and Trade an excess of regulation, H&N letter to editor by Steve Rapalyea 6/20/19. "...Manmade CO2 is estimated at 3% of the atmospheric CO2 and it has been found that natural variations exceed that percentage. CO2 is approximately 1,560,000th of the total atmospheric gas and is essential for all life on Earth....Think about our transportation system. It is mostly dependent on fossil fuels, as is much of our residential heating. Are you ready to give up your cars and trucks? How about farmers and ranchers with their diesel powered tractors?..."

Wildfire carbon emissions primary cause of possible climate doomsday scenario by Oregon Senator Dennis Linthicum, November 2018
"
...four California wildfires...between 1992 and 2007, released carbon dioxide at levels 19 times greater than previously accepted scientific estimates.
...each acre of burned forest emitted greenhouse gases equal to the annual exhaust from 48 cars.
...combustion emissions could have been reduced from 46.2 tons per acre to 12 tons per acre if the density of trees had been reduced from 273 per acre to the more natural density of 60 per acre."
Trump order expands logging on public land, H&N by Washington Post 1/15/19.

Why California burns — its forests have too many trees, by Professor Thomas M. Bonnicksen, SF Chronicle 11/12/18. "...greenhouse gas emissions from one acre of burned forest are about the same as the exhaust from 13 cars for one year...These gases stay in the atmosphere warming the climate for centuries..."

Our Public Lands Must Not Go Up in Smoke, by Oregon State Senator Doug Whitsett newsletter posted to kbc 9/27/15. "The scope of the mismanagement of our more than 300 million acres of U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) federal lands was once again made evident by the smoke-filled August skies...According to the National Interagency Fire Center, over eight million acres had burned as of the beginning of September... Annual greenhouse gas emissions from wildfires dwarfs our nation’s emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels..."

BOR study to tackle climate change threats. Crop modification and river restoration among options, H&N, 2/24/15. "Greg Addington, executive director of the Klamath Water Users Association, said any study will be incomplete unless it includes water needs for fish and wildlife...He pointed out that the Tribes should be part of any long-term water storage discussion." " Implementing strategies could improve delivery efficiency, reduce demand, reduce losses, and support water acquisition and transfers, and restoration projects, McGinnis said....Strategy examples include modifying crop use and acreage, increasing water storage, increasing streamflow, river restoration and implementing the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement.

Also, people who are so desperate as to forge documents in an attempt to frame their rivals are clearly not above forging scientific data, studies, and facts to similarly further their cause..."  (KBC NOTE: in the KBRA, water deliveries to irrigators is based dependant on outcome of Klamath "climate change" studies.)

No Need to Panic About Global Warming, There's no compelling scientific argument for drastic action to 'decarbonize' the world's economy. Wall Street Journal, posted to KBC 1/30/12

1/23/12 - Administration has released the draft National Fish Wildlife and Plants Climate Adaptation Strategy, available for public review and comment through March 5, 2012.The strategy is a collaboration of federal, state and tribal partners. A small excerpt from The Plan: "Paying farmers in the Great Plains to take some of their land out of production and then restoring prairie grass and sagebrush on the land could offset the projected population declines from climate change of the threatened lesser prairie chicken, according to one analysis. Similarly, adjusting rice farming practices.."

*** SOLUTION: Reduce global warming; eat an eco-friendly kangaroo
The Greenpeace Diet  10/16/07, http://www.americanloggers.org:80/ubb/Forum72/HTML/004166.html
It turns out cutting beef production by 20% and eating more kangaroo instead would reduce Australia's carbon emissions by about 15 million metric tons a year by 2020. So says a report commissioned by Greenpeace.
The report proposes two scenarios for reducing Australia's emissions by 30% from 1990 levels. Warmer home insulation, more efficient water heaters, better public transport are good. Also, a shift away from grass-guzzling, methane-belching beef cattle to the more eco-friendly kangaroo. Source: Wall Street Journal, Review & Outlook, October 16, 2007; Page A20

Ranking Member Henry E. Brown, Jr.'s Statement From Today's Hearing On Impacts Of A Climate Change On Wildlife & Oceans, "...as recently as 30 years ago, the scientific consensus was that we were entering a new ice age and that a drop of only one degree Celsius would result in world famine.  The January 31, 1977, cover of Time magazine was entitled "The Big Freeze".  The scientists were wrong in 1977, they were wrong about last year's summer hurricane season and they may well be wrong about the so-called catastrophic effects of the current warming trend. Having just experienced the coldest Easter Sunday in Charleston in over 50 years, a few of my constituents would have enjoyed a little global warming." Steve Hanson, Committee on Resources 4/17/07
