RE: Budget Update

The full Senate Budget Committee voted to adopt the recommended elimination of funding for California fairs and we now expect the Assembly Budget Committee to take similar action today. While this is a disappointing development, it does not eliminate our opportunities to press for alternatives. Our efforts will now focus on the leadership in both houses and the Governor's office.

As we continue to oppose the Governor's plan, the time has come for us to support a viable alternative. We will review our proposal with the California Fairs Alliance board tomorrow morning, then forward the results to all California fairs. The California Fairs Alliance will conduct area conference calls on Tuesday, February 22 (schedule to follow). After those discussions, we will be asking members to again contact their local legislators, seeking support for our plan.

Thank you.
