MAY 21ST BIRD FESTIVAL FEATURES ART EXHIBIT, YOUTH ACTIVITIES

The 4th annual Tule Lake Migratory Bird Festival will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday May 21st. The Festival will include the Third Annual Tulelake Art exhibit and numerous activities for families with children. All festival events are free. Listed below are just a few of the many opportunities which will be offered at the festival held at the community building known as the Honker on Main Street in Tulelake, California.

Over 30 Artists and photographers from the Tulelake and Klamath Basin will have work on exhibit and for sale at a special exhibit at the Tulelake Migratory Bird Festival will be held in the Tulelake Community Center. This exhibit will be just one of many events and activities featured at the all day Festival (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

A host of children’s activities will also be a highlight of the festival. Events for children will include birdhouse building, Little Tykes play area, a water table, duck drawing/coloring instruction and live bird demonstrations. Children will also be able to obtain colorful wildlife posters other free items designed to increase their appreciation for wildlife. Other events at the May 21st Festival will include:

The WORLD PREMIER OF THE FILM "FIELDS OF SPLENDOR" – shown hourly

Volunteer Fire Department Tri-Tip Bar-b-que (mid day); food and refreshments (all day)

Neotropical bird identification field trip 9:00 to 12:00 (reservations suggested)

Hands-on mist netting and bird banding at the Tule Lake Refuge visitor center (7:30 - noon)

Guided tour of Lower Klamath Refuge (bus trip) 9:00 – 11:30 (reservations suggested)

Captain Jack’s Stronghold Tour (meet at the stronghold at the Lava Beds) 10:00 - noon

Raptor Identification bus trip to the Petroglyphs on Lava Beds National Monument (1:00 to 3:30)
