KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Bureau of Reclamation, in coordination with PacifiCorp, plans to increase flows below Iron Gate Dam to reduce the risk of disease for salmon in the Klamath River.

Beginning April 15, flows below Iron Gate Dam will increase from approximately 1,325 cubic feet per second up to 4,500 cfs. Increased releases out of Upper Klamath Lake through the Link River Dam will occur simultaneously. The highest releases, of up to approximately 4,500 cfs, will be reduced to about 3,200 cfs on Saturday, April 16. A high peak of 4,200 cfs will occur on Sunday April 17. Flows will start ramping down the morning of Monday, April 18. The public is urged to take all necessary precautions on or near the Link and Klamath rivers while flows are high during this period.

Reclamation has coordinated with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Services as well as Tribes, states, irrigation districts, and non-government organizations to develop operational solutions for extraordinary dry conditions during the 2022 water year. This 2022 flushing flow is part of the operations announced on April 11.
